Spotlight on our Students – Ngoc Nguyen

Ngoc is in her last year of a PhD at Monash University and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. As part of the CRE in Newborn Medicine and Victorian Infant Brain Studies (VIBeS), her research projects are focused on language functioning in children born very preterm compared with their term-born peers. She is also looking at the development of language across childhood and examining early markers for predicting language outcomes in children born very preterm.

Ngoc has just returned from wintry Washington, DC, where she presented some of her thesis findings at the 46th Annual International Neuropsychological Society conference. Ngoc's presentation was titled "Language function at 13 years and its long-term trajectory from 2 years in very preterm children".
