Murdoch Childrens Research Institute has been nominated for a
business achievement award for its advancement of women in the
workplace.
Murdoch Childrens is one of 30 organisations from across
Australia nominated for an award by the Equal Opportunity for Women
in the Workplace Agency to recognise organisations and individuals
at the forefront of creating equitable workplaces.
"While women are overall under-represented in the medical
research sector, we are proud that 80 per cent of our employees are
female and that many hold senior research and executive roles,"
Director Professor Terry Dwyer said.
"One of our priorities has been to develop strategies, policies
and procedures to support women in science and break down barriers.
As a research institute concerned with the health and wellbeing of
children and families, we are particularly focused on providing a
flexible yet productive work environment for all employees, many of
whom are mothers."
Murdoch Childrens has been an Employer of Choice for Women since
2003.
Winners will be announced on November 10.
