We are seeking an experienced neuroscientist to provide technical advice and support for MRI studies (structural and functional) at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. The incumbent will form a key part of a new research group within the ‘Critical Care and Neurosciences theme’ of the Institute.
The successful applicant will be a dedicated and organised individual with relevant postgraduate training and an emerging track record in neuroimaging research. Skills in the use and administration of UNIX, MATLAB, SPM/ FSL are required and the may provide systems administration support to the research group’s laboratory.
The position is for three years and would suit a junior to mid-postdoctoral level scientist who wishes to develop their career in a supportive, productive imaging research environment.

• Assisting with Data Collection on the International Youth Development Study
The International Youth Development Study (IYDS) is undertaking its 6th wave of data collection with young people across Victoria and is currently seeking casual staff to assist with data collection. Responsibilities include contacting participants by phone, negotiating and co-ordinating completion of surveys, conducting some telephone interviews and telephone follow-up, and recording all contact with parents and participants.
Experience of working with young people and/or conducting research with participants over the phone would be an advantage. Good telephone manner, excellent organisation and communications skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access databases are essential.
Afternoon/ early evening hours required – days and times flexible.

The Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) is a department of the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and a major research centre of Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI). The Centre is at the forefront of Australian research into early childhood development and behaviour.
We are looking for an experienced Data Manager to provide support to the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) Program. Commencing in 2009, the AEDI will be implemented nationally with AEDI data to be collected on approximately 250,000 children in the first year of school. The position involves working as part of a team and providing leadership for the AEDI dataset, with for a range of duties, including managing the AEDI database, developing and implementing procedures/ programming for the efficient reporting the AEDI data, and a range of tasks associated with overseeing the AEDI dataset.

An interesting and challenging opportunity exists for a Division 1 Registered Nurse to assist with co-ordinating large-scale vaccine trials and epidemiologic research in healthy infants, children, and adolescents. Responsibilities include assisting with administrative management of the research studies, maintenance of study documentation, planning for the conduct of studies, review of study protocols, preparation of study budgets and recruitment strategies, assisting with ethics applications.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage: immunisation, GCP & clinical trial management, paediatrics, or maternal and child health. Word-processing, spreadsheet management, and electronic communication skills are essential. Employment will be full-time for one year (there may be opportunity for subsequent continuation), commencing in November 2008.
