Prof Meg Morris, Chief Investigator, The University of Melbourne
Professor Meg Morris is the Head of School of Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne. She has a distinguished research career in the field of gait analysis and gait rehabilitation. Since 1990, she has contributed more than 120 publications on topics such as gait disorders in Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and Stroke; reliability and validity of clinical gait analysis; quantification of therapy outcomes and the biomechanics and motor control of human locomotion.
She is one of the theme leaders at CHESM (Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine) at The University of Melbourne. In this role, Professor Morris plays a major role in fostering clinical research training in allied health clinicians, particularly in the fields of gait analysis and gait rehabilitation in gerontology, orthopaedics and neurology. She is also one of only three neurological fellows in the Australian College of Physiotherapists, and in this capacity plays a major role in research training and career development for physiotherapists. Professor Morris plays a key role in translating findings on gait analysis and rehabilitation to patients and the general community through publication of books, videotapes, web-sites and computer based on-line learning materials. She also works closely with a range of partners from the orthopaedics and neurological product industries to ensure appropriate commercialisation of knowledge that arises.
