Dr Andy Franklyn-Miller

Clinical Sports Medicine Fellow. Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine (The University of Melbourne)

Project: Comparing running and walking gait assessment with FootscanŽ. This research looks at measuring the difference in the pressure and force distribution of the foot between walking and running gait. The findings from this research will be influential to reducing lower limb injury rates that occur in military personnel.

;

Dr Xavier Yu

Orthopaedic Research Fellow. Gait CCRE. Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.

Project: Gait analysis evaluation of outcomes from single event multi-level surgery in children with cerebral palsy. This project will look at the outcomes of children with diplegic cerebral palsy who have undertaken single-event multi-level surgery (SEMLS) according to 3-dimensional gait analysis (3DGA). This research will provide indications on whether certain types of procedures performed as part of SEMLS influence particular parameters assessed in the 3DGA, and whether these actual outcomes are reflective of current opinions in the surgical management of cerebral palsy.

Dr Helena Ng

Geriatric Registrar, Southern Health. (Completed)

Project: The effects of footwear on gait and balance in stroke patients. This project aims to determine the effects of different footwear conditions (closed fitting shoes, slippers and no shoes) on gait and balance in stroke patients. It is expected the results will contribute to the understanding of the effects of footwear on mobility and balance after stroke.
