core facilities
Core facility and enabling groups support our researchers by
providing expertise in the areas of bioinformatics, disease models,
tissue culture, flow cytometry and imaging, biostatistics and
clinical trials.
Australian Paediatric Research Unit (APPRU) conducts clinical
trials in children to investigate the safety and efficacy of
prescription drugs and medications.
Quantitative Sciences
Quantitative Sciences comprises of Clinical Epidemiology &
Biostatistics (CEBU) and Bioinformatics.
Clinical
Epidemiology & Biostatistics (CEBU) contributes to
research projects throughout Murdoch Childrens with contributions
ranging from advice on research methods and statistics, through to
large scale collaborations on major community based studies of
common health problems in children and adolescents.
Bioinformatics research is at
the interface between technology and biology. The group uses
statistical, mathematical and computational techniques to make
sense of the enormous amounts of biological (usually genetic) data
being generated, to enable a deeper understanding of disease and
treatments.
Provides specific expertise and training in disease models, flow
cytometry, confocal microscopy, genome resources, laboratory
support, sequenom platform, shipping of laboratory goods and
documents and tissue culture
Clinical Research Development Office (CRDO) provides training,
advice and guidance for clinical research staff on protocol
development through to publishing their research findings.
