Murdoch Children's Stem Cell Medicine is internationally recognised for its research using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and their subsequent differentiation into specialised human cell types and multicellular human 3D organoids. To support this research, MCRI has established state-of-the-art facilities. All facility services are available to internal and external researchers across the world.

iPSC Derivation and Gene Editing Facility

Through the support from the Stafford Fox Medical Research Fund, the Murdoch Children's Research Institute established it’s induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) Derivation and Gene Editing Facility. This has accelerated MCRI stem cell research by facilitating the derivation and distribution of induced pluripotent stem cell lines, including lines derived from patient cells. The Facility has gene editing capacity, to meet growing demand for gene corrected, targeted mutation and reporter lines.

Disease modelling facilityStem Cell Based Drug Discovery Facility

The objective of the Stafford Fox Drug Discovery Facility is to enable researchers to progress in vitro disease models towards high throughput screening models for the identification of novel drug-like compounds. We contribute with drug screening campaign design, assay development and validation and drug screening for the identification of new drug candidates for the treatment of inherited diseases using human cells and tissues.
