healthcare innovation
Group Leader - A/Professor Harriet Hiscock
Innovations in the quality, safety, outcomes and cost in
healthcare have meant people who have illnesses or chronic disease
have an enhanced life expectancy, enjoy a better quality of life,
and have improved diagnostic and treatment options.
This has been achieved over time by introducing new services, new
ways of working, new products or by using new
technologies.
Innovation in healthcare continues to be a driving force in the
quest to balance cost containment and health care quality and is
increasingly important with the rising burden of chronic and
complex diseases.
Murdoch Childrens Research Institute is ideally placed to be at
the forefront of healthcare innovation for children both nationally
and internationally through its breadth of research expertise and
its clinical, educational and community outreach interfaces. Our
specific aim is to improve the quality of care for children and
their families in both hospital and community settings.
The Healthcare Innovation Affinity Group brings together
researchers from laboratory, clinical, public health, policy
development, health services, and education settings to develop and
trial innovative healthcare products and service delivery
models. The aim of the group is to share collected data and
translate these research findings into practical
treatments.
