biography
Fergus Cameron is the Head of Diabetes Services at the Royal
Children's Hospital and group leader of the Diabetes research group
at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. He oversees the
activities of the largest paediatric diabetes clinic in Australia,
caring for children from a few weeks of age through to 18 years
old. A/Professor Cameron trained at the Royal Children's Hospital,
Melbourne, The Hospital for Sick Children, London and The Hospital
for Sick Children, Toronto. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed
papers, 12 textbook chapters and 23 non-peer reviewed papers. He
has produced six DVDs relating to diabetes, two of which have won
international awards.
He is the only Southern Hemisphere participant in the Hvidoere
Study Group on Childhood Diabetes and the International Consensus
Guidelines on insulin pump use in children and adolescents, and is
the Australasian Editor for the International Journal of Pediatric
Endocrinology. He has obtained competitive grant funding both
nationally and internationally for his ongoing research interests
in diabetes and has been a member of the National Diabetes Register
Management Committee, (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare,
Canberra) and the Diabetes Expert Advisory Group (Department of
Human Services, Victoria).
