biography
Michael Coory is a public-health physician (MBBS, FAFPHM) and
bio-statistician (BSc, PhD, AStat). Before commencing at Murdoch
Childrens Reserach Institute in 2011, he worked in both the
government and university sectors. He teaches statistics,
statistical reasoning, and evidence-based medicine to medical
students and clinicians.
He has also taught and developed statistics subjects in Masters
of Public Health programs; and has taught in the Biostatistics
Collaboration of Australia. He provides statistical advice to the
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the Therapeutic Goods
Administration; and continues to serve on several quality
committees for government.
research focus & interest
Michael Coory concentrates on health services research,
including quality-of-care; assess-to-care and cost-of-care.
Specific research interests include statistical methods for
assessing the cost-effectiveness of new technologies, diffusion of
new technologies, and paediatric drug use.
