Giving in memory or support of your loved one

Giving in memory or celebration of a loved one is a very special way to honour those dearest to you while helping us to make a difference for children, families and their communities.

By choosing to support MCRI, you are funding research that improves the lives of millions of kids each year and helping our ground-breaking research projects come to life.

How can you make a difference?

Give in memory

A memorial donation to the Murdoch Children's Research Institute is a lasting tribute to the memory of a loved one who has passed away. It is also a meaningful alternative to sending flowers and gives family and friends the opportunity to support research to help children live happier, healthier lives.

Personalised memorial donation forms can be provided on request.  We can also arrange for donations to be made online in honour of your loved one.

All donors receive a tax-deductible receipt and you will be provided with the total amount donated and a letter of thanks from the Institute.

For more information please email the team or call +61 (3) 9936 6451 to speak with a member of the MCRI Engagement & Philanthropy Team.

Give in celebration

If you have made the generous decision to request donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, anniversary, wedding, graduation or other special occasion please email the team to start fundraising.

Donation forms and envelopes can be provided on request for inclusion with your invitations and the team can assist you to set up a personalised fundraising page so your guests, friends and family can give generously in honour of your special event.

Meet Curtis

Curtis was nine years old when he decided to raise funds for heart research in lieu of birthday presents.

When Curtis was asked what he wanted for his ninth birthday, his parents were astounded when the youngster requested that, instead of bringing gifts, guests at his party help him raise money for the Murdoch Children's Research Institute.

Curtis wanted to help scientists at the Institute who are finding ways that stem cells can be used to make new treatments and cures for a range of heart conditions affecting children. Curtis’ proud parents helped him set up an online fundraising page with a goal of raising $200 for his outdoor cinema birthday

Curtis’ generous family and friends helped him raise over $900 which will support the work of the Cardiac Development Research team, led by Dr David Elliot.

In a thank you letter penned by Dr Elliot; the researcher thanked Curtis for his wonderful donation:

“When I heard that you were donating money to research, instead of getting presents, I wanted to personally thank you for the amazing thing that you are doing. You are a very special kid to have the foresight to put the needs of others, ahead of your own.”

Like Curtis, you can support the life-saving research conducted at MCRI.
