Australia's KidGen Collaborative are welcoming patients and the community to join them at a 'Meet the Scientists' evening at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

Dr Cathy Quinlan, the Nephrologist leading the Melbourne Genomics Kidney Genetics Flagship project, will join Professor Melissa Little and Drs Lorna Hale and Sara Howden from The Kidney Development, Disease and Regeneration Laboratory at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute to describe how samples and data collected from KidGen multidisciplinary clinics throughout Australia might be used to further research into kidney disease.
The evening will cover the following topics:
- The Australian Genomics research program – bringing genomic medicine into patient clinics (Dr Cathy Quinlan, pictured right)
- 'Kidney in a dish' (Professor Melissa Little)
- Modelling kidney disease in the laboratory (Dr Lorna Hale)
- Genome editing – Using CRISPR-Cas9 (Dr Sara Howden)
