Kai fundraises for Murdoch Children's Research Institute

Meet Kai, an inspiring youngster who started his own fundraising drive to raise more than $550 to support children with heart conditions. According to Kai, finding something fun to do is the key to raising funds and being able to make a difference in the lives of others. We couldn’t be more thankful for his efforts.

At the Murdoch Children's Research Institute end of year Director’s Forum, two ‘Rising Star Awards’ were presented to PhD students Peter Azzopardi and Simon Sadedin. These awards are given to students who have significantly contributed to the Institute during 2015 and continue to excel in children’s health research.

New global research led by Murdoch Children's Research Institute has identified the best method for detecting carriage of pneumococci, bacteria that cause pneumonia and other serious infections, especially in children. This analysis could inform pneumococcal vaccine evaluation and development and thereby help stop the spread of this deadly bacteria.
