Pre-screening checks at MCRI & VCGS

All MCRI paid and unpaid staff must undergo a police check.

Australia-based employees

Murdoch Children's Research Institute will incur the cost of your police check.

To complete your check:

1. Log in to the MCRI Fit2Work website.
   You’ll be prompted to create an account and fill in the required details.

2. Use your Ref ID Number.
   This number is provided in the subject line of our email correspondence.

3. Submit your application.
   Fit2Work will then process your submission.

4. Processing time:
   Results are typically returned within three (3) business days, but in some cases, it may take up to four (4) weeks.

International employees

If you have not lived in Australia within the past 12 months, you will need to provide an International Police Clearance from the last country you lived in.

You have two options:

1. Provide your own certified/notarised Police Clearance if it was issued within the last 12 months.

2. Complete a new police check through Fit2Work, including any countries you have lived in. The relevant international forms will be included.

Paid staff

For all MCRI and VCCS paid full time, part time and casual employees, including contractors and consultants, visit the paid staff portal and follow the steps below.

For all MCRI Honorary Fellow Managers, Honorary Fellows, Research Associates, Volunteers and VCGS Clinical Associates, visit the unpaid staff portal and follow the steps below.

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Victorian-based employees

Please note: The following information applies only to staff based in Victoria. If you are working in another state, please contact the recruitment team for guidance on local WWCC requirements.

• Depending on your eligibility, you may be able to complete the WWCC fully online via Services Victoria.
• If you are undertaking paid work, you must apply for an Employee status WWCC.
• If you are undertaking unpaid work, apply for a Volunteer status WWCC.

What to do:

1. Complete your WWCC application.
2. Upload a copy of your payment receipt or confirmation email (from [email protected]) to your candidate profile.
3. Email the recruitment team at  show email address  to confirm that you have uploaded the document.
   
   

For international employees

If you are an international visitor, you must complete the WWCC process once arriving in Australia.

When lodging your application at an Australia Post outlet, you will need to provide:

• Your visa documentation
• Proof of accommodation in Australia
• Your international passport
  
  

Already have a current WWCC?

If you already hold a valid Employee WWCC:

• Upload a copy to your candidate profile.
• Update your details on Service Victoria to include Murdoch Children’s Research Institute or Victorian Clinical Genetics Services as associated organisations.
  
  

Important:

• You must update your WWCC details within 21 days of any change.
• If you are switching from volunteer to paid work, you must apply for a volunteer to employee check. as it's against the law to use a volunteer WWCC for paid work with children.

Additional pre-employment documents

Before we can issue your contract of employment, please upload the following documents (if not already provided in your candidate profile):

• A copy of your qualifications
• Your academic transcripts
• Any professional registration or licence required for the role
• A valid employment visa, if applicable

Once satisfied our pre-employment screening checks, we will email you your contract of employment, including your confirmed start date and other relevant employment documents.

Upload your documents

To upload your required documents:

1. Log in to Candidate Profile.
2. Click on ‘My Profile’.
3. Go to the section titled ‘Please attach Academic Transcript/Qualifications and other additional information’.
4. Upload your documents in the appropriate fields.
