We respond to the unmet health needs of today’s adolescents to achieve equitable health and wellbeing outcomes now and into the future.

Our Global Adolescent health group engages in meaningful partnerships to understand the drivers of adolescent health and develop effective actions to improve health and wellbeing in Asia Pacific and globally.

The challenges

One-third of the global population are adolescents aged 10-24 years, and more than half of the world’s 1.8 billion adolescents live in the Asia Pacific region.

Yet for too long, adolescents have been overlooked in global and local policies and services despite the 1 million largely preventable deaths that occur annually.

As a result, many young people can’t access the services and supports they need or want. This comes at a time of life when young people are navigating the biggest shifts of their lives: forming their identity, transitioning through school, starting careers, beginning families of their own

Our focus

Despite substantial need, a key barrier is the lack of guidance. Our work addresses this by defining evidence-based actions that are responsive to the needs of today’s young people. Genuine and meaningful partnerships with young people is central to everything we do.

Our work aims to improve the health and wellbeing of young people globally, with a focus on adolescents living in the Asia Pacific region. Our work addresses critical gaps in knowledge, policy and practice.

Our team has established extensive partnerships with young people, policy makers and implementation partners across the region and globally. These collaborations ensures that we generate knowledge that reflects current needs, and that this knowledge is translated into action.
