Australia’s Draft National Science and Research Priorities: Response to consultation
As a leading child health research institute, MCRI, alongside the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH), submitted a response to the proposed Draft National Science and Research Priorities, drawing on our expertise in children’s health and wellbeing.
In our submission, we commended the consultation led by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, especially regarding the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
We supported the draft priorities for addressing key challenges in Australia, particularly in promoting healthy communities. We urged for more explicit references to children, adolescents, and families in the priorities and the broader theme of climate change.
Our submission endorsed the commitment to using measurable outcomes to track progress through the Measuring What Matters Framework.
Our response highlights strategies for local and national implementation. We remain dedicated to ensuring that all children can lead fulfilled lives through early intervention and prevention.
