- Details
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), led by Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) Chief Scientist Professor Melissa Little AC, has released its 2025 annual report.
reNEW is a global consortium that focuses on translating stem cell science into therapies at its three research nodes, the University of Copenhagen, Leiden University Medical Center, and MCRI in Melbourne.
“New stem cell products will only arise from research excellence. reNEW aims to channel excellent science into outcomes” reNEW CEO Professor Little said.
“To do this, we remove barriers and provide incentives without compromising quality.”
The 2025 Annual Report reflects reNEW’s continued momentum in stem cell science, showcasing advances in research excellence, strengthened partnerships, and ongoing efforts to translate discovery into future therapeutic opportunities.
The report features reNEW’s growing and diverse research portfolio, highlighting its strong position to attract external investment in stem cell therapies through international licensing agreements and the establishment of venture companies.
In 2025, evidence of translation included a successful licensing deal between MCRI and Retro Biosciences, as well as support for reNEW’s first spin‑out, Ibnova Therapeutics, backed by the BioInnovation Institute and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Cellerator.
