Darren Ong is a Project Officer in the International Child Health Group working for the UNISON (Universal Safe Oxygen for Newborns) Consortium. He is also a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery student at The Australian National University and an Honorary Clinical Tutor at The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics. He holds a Master of Science (Epidemiology) from The University of Melbourne. He previously coordinated the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence for Pneumococcal Disease Control in the Asia-Pacific and the Asia-Pacific Vaccine Research Network.

His research focuses on vaccine-preventable diseases in the context of global health, including pneumococcal disease, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus and measles.
