Role Informatics Lead
Gerardo is the Informatics Lead of Epidemiology Informatics group at MCRI, and Data Innovation Lead of the Centre for Health Analytics. His work sits at the intersection of research and data operations, and public and paediatric health. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, the national affiliate of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), with members from countries in the Asia Pacific.

He is currently leading research projects to establish learning health systems, processes that integrate data with external evidence to generate actionable knowledge, for enhanced responsiveness to public concerns of vaccine safety, and to improve health outcomes of children.

He currently co-sponsors a $1.5 million project to enhance data services infrastructure of SAEFVIC and the Health Informatics Group to better support patient and public health information systems. He developed its initial architectural solution concept, drawing on insights gained solving problems and innovating for Victoria’s vaccine safety service.
