Dr Kiymet Bozaoglu is a Team Leader and Senior Research Fellow in the Neurogenetics Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI). She leads innovative research exploring how genetic conditions influence brain development and neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Her research program uses state‑of‑the‑art stem cell technologies and human disease models to investigate neurodevelopmental disorders including neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), autism and related genetic conditions. By modelling these disorders in the laboratory, Dr Bozaoglu aims to uncover disease mechanisms that are difficult to study directly in patients.

A central focus of her work is understanding how specific genetic variants alter neural development, cellular behaviour and brain function over time. Her research contributes to identifying potential therapeutic targets and improving early diagnosis and intervention strategies for children with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Dr Bozaoglu’s work sits at the intersection of genetics, neuroscience and translational medicine, supporting MCRI’s goal of improving outcomes for children with complex neurological and developmental challenges.
