Lane Collier is a PhD candidate at Murdoch Children's Research Institute and The University of Melbourne, exploring the use of wearable technology and machine learning to improve outcomes for children receiving cancer treatment. Her research focuses on the early detection of treatment-related toxicities in paediatric oncology, combining clinical insight, data science, and human-centred design to develop innovative approaches to patient care. She is under the supervision of Prof Rachel Conyers, Prof David Elliott, A/Prof Gareth Ball and Dr Elyse Passmore.

Alongside her research, she completed the Apple Foundation program at RMIT university, strengthening her expertise in UX/UI design and digital product development. She also led the WEARABLES team in the CSIRO ONPrime program, where the team was awarded the Melbourne Cohort prize for learning velocity. The program supports researchers in translating scientific innovations into real-world impact through customer discovery, market validation, and entrepreneurial training.

Lane's professional background includes working as a Senior Data Manager at the Victorian Department of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she gained valuable experience in stakeholder engagement and data management. Additionally, she worked as a study coordinator at MCRI, focusing on addressing treatment-related toxicities in children with cancer prior to her PhD studies.
