Petrea is a research coordinator and PhD Candidate with the Aboriginal Families Study. Her research describes the language development and storytelling skills of Aboriginal children in urban, regional and remote areas of South Australia. Petrea is a speech pathologist and linguist, previously working clinically at the Royal Children's Hospital and on projects to facilitate the documentation of endangered Aboriginal languages.
Petrea has also worked on several longitudinal cohort studies at MCRI, most recently investigating long-term speech, language and literacy developmental paths of children.
Petrea is interested in research that will improve health equity for families.
