The establishment of reNEW has been made possible by the €300 million investment from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, an independent, Danish enterprise foundation that supports scientific, humanitarian and social causes.

The Melbourne node of reNEW is based at MCRI and leverages our expertise in stem cell research in the MCRI Stem Cell Medicine theme.

Our research program aims to translate fundamental stem cell biology discoveries into medical benefits for children and adults living with currently incurable diseases.

Our researchers are experts in stem cells, gene editing, transcriptomics, phosphoproteomics and bioengineering technologies that can be used to model complex disease mechanisms and develop new stem cell-based therapies. Our progress in stem cell research is advanced by the cutting-edge stem cell facilities based at MCRI.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, is supported by a Novo Nordisk Foundation grant number NNF21CC0073729.
