Dr Ashleigh Shipton is a paediatric registrar with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and is in a clinical role at the Royal Children's Hospital. Dr Shipton is also a PhD Candidate with Gen-V at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the University of Melbourne Department of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

Graduating top undergraduate student for all undergraduate degrees and top medical student at the University of Otago, Aotearoa/New Zealand, Dr Shipton is motivated to pursue a career at the interface of child health and population health. She feels a strong sense of compassion and justice to focusing on early life course intervention and health equity after witnessing high numbers of children presenting to hospital with preventable diseases perpetuated by the social determinants of health.
