Mr Jesse Fryk is an Epidemiologist with Surveillance of Adverse Events Following Vaccination In the Community (SAEFVIC) and the Health Informatics team under the direction of Prof. Jim Buttery. His role includes the routine analysis and reporting of adverse events following vaccination (AEFI) for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 vaccines, and assists with prepare documentation for findings and recommendations that may facilitate change in vaccination practices and policy. Jesse is also involved with a research project examining vaccine safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines in the aged care facility setting, known as COVIRAC.

Prior to his appointment at MCRI, Jesse had worked as a researcher for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service in Brisbane, under the direction of Dr. Helen Faddy and Prof. Robert Flower. The research Jesse was involved with focussed on blood safety and donor safety - understanding the prevalence (active, recent and past infection) of infectious diseases not typically screened by the Blood Service, the risk of transfusion-transmission to a recipient, and exploring proactive and reactive approaches to mitigate this risk while permitting clinical use of the implicated blood and blood products.

Mr Jesse Fryk is an Epidemiologist with Surveillance of Adverse Events Following Vaccination In the Community (SAEFVIC) and the Health Informatics team under the direction of Prof. Jim Buttery.
