Overview

Gene therapy is a technique that modifies a patient’s genes to help treat or cure diseases such as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). To learn more about people’s thoughts on gene therapy, this study is asking the parents and carers of children with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) to share their experiences.

This study accompanies the opening of the gene therapy clinical trial for RAG1 SCID at The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Participant information

This study is being conducted through Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI).

Parents and carers who take part in this study will participate in a friendly 30 to 45-minute online interview. There is no need to have any prior knowledge about gene therapy – we are after your valuable insights and opinions.

Your experiences in caring for a child with SCID are incredibly important to us.

Funding

  • This research project is funded by reNEW (Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Stem Cell Medicine).
