Implementing the Standards Together: Engaging Parents and Providers in Psychosocial Care in Australia and New Zealand (iSTEPPP-ANZ)

The importance of psychosocial care

A cancer diagnosis impacts more than just the physical health of a child; it affects their social interactions and psychological well-being. Providing psychosocial care is crucial for children and young people with cancer, as well as their families. To improve and standardise this care, fifteen Psychosocial Standards of Care for Childhood Cancer have been developed.

Study objectives

The iSTEPPP-ANZ study aims to assess how well these standards are being implemented in paediatric centres across Australia and New Zealand. In collaboration with healthcare providers and parent carers, we also aim to identify five priority Psychosocial Standards to guide future health service initiatives.

Recruitment process

We will recruit healthcare providers from the 11 paediatric oncology centres across Australia and New Zealand. Parent carers will be recruited via social media platforms.

If you are a parent carer of a child with cancer, and would like to participate in this study please complete our questionnaire.
